Qualified by FAITH …Period

I wish I could tell you that every time God has asked me to step into something big, I’ve marched forward with unshakable confidence, chest out, head high, certain that I’m the perfect man for the assignment.

The truth? A lot of times I’ve been the guy thinking, Are you sure, God? Me?

As Whitney and I move toward the mission field, I STILL have these little moments where I’d replay the idea in my mind and think, This is great in theory, but… what if I’m not even hearing Him right? What if this is just me making it up? What if we’re in over our heads and totally unqualified?

If you’ve ever stepped into the dark, you probably know the feeling. That quiet suspicion that maybe God misdialed your number or YOU just dreamt up the call all together.

This Hit Different Today…

This morning, I “happened” to read Proverbs 10:16 and Romans 4 back-to-back. And it felt like a divine hug from my Dad saying, “I’ve got you.”

Proverbs 10:16 says, “The wages of the righteous is life, but the earnings of the wicked are sin and death.” That’s a great promise… but I’ve got to be honest, it also makes me squirm a little. What if I blow it? What if my hearing isn’t perfect? What if my execution isn’t flawless? Am I still in the “righteous” category, or am I about to disqualify myself?

Then Romans 4 shows up. Paul points out that Abraham was counted righteous before he had done anything to prove himself. No religious checkboxes ticked, no law to follow, no spotless performance …just FAITH

God saw Abraham’s “yes” and called him righteous right then and there.

And suddenly Proverbs 10:16 felt completely different. That “wages of the righteous” life Solomon was talking about? I actually qualify for it because my faith has already put me in the righteous column.

Here’s the Take-Away

If you’re stepping into a dark place (spiritually, emotionally, even physically) you don’t have to drag along the weight of “I have to get this exactly right or it won’t work.”

You’re not here to collect wages for perfect performance. You’re here to receive the paycheck of life because the Righteous One Himself is backing you. Your faith is your qualification.

So even if you’re still piecing together your assignment… even if the first few days feel like you’re fumbling forward… Shoot - even if the 128th day feels like you’re fumbling forward, you can still expect the God who sent you to show up. And not just to cover your mistakes, but to pour out His life through you.

When we step into places darker than we’ve ever been, we’re not banking on our perfect strategy, we’re banking on the One who called us. And that means we can go boldly, even with trembling knees, knowing heaven is already wired to deliver life to the righteous… and in Christ, that’s exactly who we are.

So go ahead and say yes.
Even if your voice shakes.
Even if your plan is still half-built.
You get the wages of the righteous - thanks for that Jesus 🙂
